International Anti-Doping Seminar «Doping Prevention for the XXXII Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo»

On February 27, 2020 the Hall of Fame of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus hosted the International Anti-Doping Seminar «Doping Prevention for the XXXII Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo» organized by the Ministry of Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Belarus, National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus and the National Anti-Doping Agency and attended by foreign experts.

Deputy Minister of Sports and Tourism of Belarus Alexander Baraulia, First Deputy Minister of Health of Belarus Dmitry Pinevich and Secretary General of the NOC of Belarus Polina Golovina addressed the audience with a welcoming speech.

Pedro Gonçalves, Science and Medical Projects Manager of the International Testing Agency (ITA), talked about applying for TUE for the Olympics in Tokyo and introduced the audience to the activities of the ITA Pre-Games Expert Group on the way to Tokyo.

Ruta Banyte, Director of the Lithuanian Anti-Doping Agency, dwelled on the principles and recommendations for working with Athlete Support Personnel.

Franziska Heinrichsmeier (iNADO) and Valeria Konova (RUSADA) shared innovative approaches in anti-doping education in Germany and the Russian Federation.

Teimuraz Ukleba, Director of the Eastern Europe Regional Anti-Doping Organization (EERADO), focused on the results of anti-doping studies in Georgia.

On February 28, as part of the seminar, the specialists of the National Anti-Doping Agency organized three round tables for Athlete Support Personnel and representatives of the Olympic Reserve Schools responsible for anti-doping work on the topics related to anti-doping rules of the XXXII Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo, best practice in anti-doping education, role and responsibility of medical personnel at major sport events, practical aspects of issuing TUE, ensuring safety of supplements, investigations of anti-doping rule violations, current changes in the legislation of the Republic of Belarus in the anti-doping field and problematic issues of doping control procedure.
